Launch Recap for March 7, 2020

The first launch of 2020 for ROCK.

Not exactly the day we anticipated.  Though the cool clear skies were very inviting for a sweet day at Little Big Econ State Forest, the winds nearly kept us from launching.  Measured gusts were well under the 20 mph limit, but upper level winds were clearly strong.

The wind did keep some of our fliers  on the ground as any rockets requiring parachute recovery were at risk of being lost in the woods.  Despite these limits, we had a great time launching with a nearby Cub Scout Pack and helping them with their launches.  The enthusiasm of the kids never grows old.  Every launch had a cheering team countdown.

We had some ground support issues, but managed to get all of the rockets launched.   Unfortunately, between the wind delays, ground support issues, and twisted motor igniters, we didn’t get too many rockets up.  Check out the impulse stats below.

Hopefully, we’ll see you in April with better  conditions.
