ROCK Representation at NATs!

Several ROCK Section members traveled to West Palm Beach in January for the annual TRA Winter Nationals launch. This event is hosted by the Florida Space modelling Association/Tripoli West Palm Prefecture and attracted guests from all over the East Coast for a weekend of High-Power action!

Shown here (L-to-R) are members Mike Kiss; Brian Coyle; Robb Haskins; and Roger and Bracha Smith. Robb was sharing the back of his rental truck to protect us from the strong, cold winds on Sunday morning. Those winds limited the flying on Sunday, but Saturday had excellent conditions.

Robb flew his large 'EriKris-Kyle' on an M motor. Roger and Bracha flew the latest incarnation of 'Akavish' several times. Mike Kiss had a spectacular flight of a Gorilla vendor demo motor. Unfortunately, due to Hybrid Ground Support issues my BSD Thor is still unflown...

The field is a very large sod farm with miles of open space for launching and recovering. The flight line was located on the south side of one plot of the farm and the range had many miles in any direction for rockets to fly.

As usual, Roger had his cameras on hand and has more photos available on his website, PayloadBay.com. Rockets Magazine was also on the field and will be featuring the launch in an upcoming issue.
