High and Hot best describe Saturday's launch. Yes, it was HOT! The summer weather has arrived in full force. Despite the heat, the flying was great. I was warned by

our LBESF Staff that the grass had not been mowed because the mower tractor is down. However, the field grass was quite a bit shorter than I expected and the field dry.

The winds were more intense at 4-500 feet AGL, making the downwind trajectories a bit unpredictable. Despite our best attempts at keeping everything on the field, two rockets

ended up in the woods on the far east of the field. I believe one was recovered. The other really disappeared. Maybe you'll find a white and purple 3" rocket while hiking?

The sun was also directly in our eyes for many flights, so we had to do a lot of eye shielding to see what was going on.

Welcome to the many new fliers! I met some of you, and really appreciate your collaborative spirit to helping us work through the 52 flights done by 12:30PM. This included 2 two stage

rockets. With the new to flying came lots of learning and opportunity to interact. You all did so well and so many your rockets flew well too. Thanks for coming out to join us and enjoy

the time learning together.

There were a few F impulse rockets at the top end of the range, but more than 50% of the flights were C or higher impulse. That meant higher flights and longer recovery walks. We got

our exercise!

We currently have a "Go for Launch" up for July 5. Often, because that is a holiday weekend, and we don't want to confuse our hobby with flying fireworks, we don't fly. Keep an eye on the

Facebook page or our website for status. Now is a great time to build your rockets in the cool of your AC! Hope to see you July or perhaps August! Have a great month!
